Creamy Cheesy Garlic Chicken Bake

Ingredients
For the Chicken
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon onion powder
For the Creamy Garlic Sauce
3 tablespoons butter
4 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup chicken broth
½ cup cream cheese, softened
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
For the Topping
1 cup shredded mozzarella
¼ cup grated Parmesan
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
A small pinch of paprika for color
Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. If the breasts are very thick, carefully slice them horizontally or gently pound them until they are approximately the same thickness. This helps the chicken cook evenly and remain juicy.
Season both sides of the chicken with salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Rub the seasoning gently into the chicken so every piece is well coated.
  2. Sear the Chicken
Heat the olive oil and butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the hot skillet and sear for approximately 2–3 minutes per side, just until they develop a beautiful golden-brown crust.
The chicken does not need to be fully cooked at this stage because it will finish cooking in the oven.
Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside temporarily.
  3. Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce
Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet.
Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30–45 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well, scraping the flavorful browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
Add the softened cream cheese and stir until completely melted into the sauce.
Then add the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and a small amount of salt.
Continue stirring for 2–3 minutes until the sauce becomes smooth, creamy, and slightly thickened.
  4. Add the Chicken Back
Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon some of the creamy garlic sauce over the top of each piece.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan evenly over the chicken.
For an extra golden and bubbly finish, add a little extra mozzarella on top.
  5. Bake
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
Bake for approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.
The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part.
For an especially golden, bubbly cheese topping, switch the oven to broil for the final 1–2 minutes, watching carefully so the cheese does not burn.
  6. Finish and Serve
Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes.
Sprinkle generously with freshly chopped parsley.
Spoon some of the creamy garlic sauce over each piece of chicken before serving.
The best part is cutting into the chicken while it’s still hot and watching the melted cheese stretch while the creamy sauce surrounds every bite.

    Tips for the Best Results
Don’t overcook the chicken. Chicken breast can become dry if cooked too long. Use a meat thermometer and remove it from the oven once the thickest part reaches 165°F (74°C).
Sear before baking. The quick sear creates a delicious golden crust and adds extra flavor to the creamy sauce.
Use freshly grated Parmesan. It melts more smoothly and gives the sauce a richer flavor.
Let the chicken rest. A few minutes of resting allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the chicken tender and juicy.
Broil carefully. If you want that beautiful golden-brown cheese topping, broil only briefly and keep a close eye on it.
