Cook Time: 50 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour
Ingredients
For the chicken:
4 chicken legs
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
For the sticky BBQ sauce:
1 cup BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken legs dry with paper towels. Rub them with olive oil, then season evenly with garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Make the BBQ sauce: In a bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
Coat the chicken: Brush the chicken legs generously with the BBQ sauce, making sure every piece is well covered.
Bake: Place the chicken legs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 40–45 minutes, turning them once halfway through cooking.
Add more glaze: Brush another generous layer of BBQ sauce over the chicken during the last 5–10 minutes of baking. Continue cooking until the sauce becomes thick, glossy, and caramelized.
Check for doneness: The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part, avoiding the bone.
Rest and serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Brush with a final little layer of BBQ sauce if desired.
🍯 Final Result
Serve hot with coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, or crispy fries. The result should be juicy chicken with crispy edges and a sweet, smoky, sticky BBQ glaze.
