1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
For the sticky sauce:
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup honey
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp hot sauce, or more to taste
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 tsp sesame oil
For serving:
Sesame seeds
Sliced green onions
Fresh cilantro, optional
Celery and carrot sticks
Ranch or blue cheese dressing
Instructions
- Prepare the wings
Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This is important for getting them extra crispy.
In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the wings and toss until they are evenly coated. - Cook the wings
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place the wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each piece. Lightly brush or spray them with olive oil.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, turning them halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. For even more crispiness, broil them for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching carefully. - Make the sauce
While the wings are cooking, add the ketchup, honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil to a small saucepan.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce becomes thick, glossy, and sticky. - Coat the wings
Transfer the hot crispy wings to a large bowl. Pour the warm sauce over them and toss thoroughly until every wing is beautifully coated. - Serve
Transfer the wings to a serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Add fresh cilantro if desired.
Serve immediately with celery, carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing.
